This shell was made with four (4) 1/8″ plies, pre bent to shape over night, and then glued together and bent again with no steam or kerfs; time in clamps: 2 weeks.
Designed for the RND-1 Loudspeaker from Gong, this design allows you to switch from three different selectable inputs. In this case, the inputs are set up for two 3.5mm (1/8″) plugs, and Right and Left RCA inputs. The first 3.5 mm jack can be used for an on-bard bluetooth receiver. The auxiliary 3.5mm input can be used to connect a portable device or a computer with a standard mini-plug cable.
-This is also possible thanks to Glassware Audio Design for their 3 input switch ( http://glass-ware.stores.yahoo.net/inseswandpcb.html ).
75 Watts per channel – Stereo and Mono Switchable Mode, i snatched 4 of the last 6 on Amazon. They sound great.
Soon they will be part of the RND-1 testing and prototyping for an on-board removable and pluggable amplifier cartridge.
These photographs show the bending rig for four 1/4″ plies of MDF – without steam or “kerfing” – kerfs.
I do not recommend this set up – even after leaving the plies in clamps overnight, the thin plies just returned halfway to their original shape, leaving an unusable piece of material.
